Hinchey makes 43 saves as Riverview Ravens beat Glace Bay Panthers Friday

COXHEATH, N.S. — 

On the back of a 43-save performance by Patrick Hinchey, the Riverview Ravens downed the Glace Bay Panthers 5-2 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.

Liam Brann scored twice, while JC MacDonald, Sam MacKinnon and Nick Farrell added single markers for the Ravens (4-1-0-0).

Tye Clarke and Ethan Murrant replied with goals for the Panthers (4-1-0-0.)

Glace Bay’s Darian MacInnis made 31 saves.

Riverview and Glace Bay will be back on the ice on Sunday when the teams meet at the Miners Forum in Glace Bay. Game time is 7 p.m.

Memorial downs Sydney Academy for second-straight high school hockey win Thursday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — 

The Memorial Marauders swept their two-game mid-week Cape Breton High School Hockey League series with the Sydney Academy Wildcats on Thursday.

The Marauders edged the Wildcats 3-2 at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.

Ian Jenkins scored twice for the Sydney Mines-based school, while Mason Chapman chipped in with a single marker.

Kent Wolodka and Ryan MacNamara replied with goals for the Wildcats.

Memorial’s Andrew Marsh made 24 saves. Sydney Academy’s Liam Collings stopped 49 of 52 shots.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League action resumes on Friday when the Riverview Ravens host the Glace Bay Panthers at 7:30 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.

Glace Bay Panthers down Memorial Marauders in high school hockey

NORTH SYDNEY — Logan Snow fired a hat trick and added an assist as the Glace Bay Panthers cruised to a 9-2 win over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action Thursday at the Emera Centre Northside. 

Tye Clarke followed with two goals and an assist, while Jonathan Gallant, Jarrett Hicks, Mitchell MacDonald and Dylan O'Neill rounded out the offence. Connor MacIntyre recorded four assists in the game. Hicks had two helpers while Clarke and MacDonald chipped in with an assist each.

Ryan MacMullin and Nolan Ryan replied for the Marauders.

Owen Coombes stopped 15 shots to post the win in goal. Aidan Penny made six saves in the loss and was replaced in the second period by Andrew Marsh, who deflected 10 shots in relief.

Penny backstops Memorial Marauders to shutout victory over Sydney Academy Wildcats

MEMBERTOU, N.S. — 

Aidan Penny stopped all 27 shots he faced to lead the Memorial Marauders to a 3-0 victory over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Wednesday.

The win marks the Marauders first of the season. The team is tied with Sydney Academy for third place in the four-team league.

Ian Jenkins scored twice for the Sydney Mines school, while Nolan Ryan chipped in with a single marker.

Daniel MacGillivary stopped 15 of 18 shots for Sydney Academy.

Memorial and Sydney Academy will return to the ice on Thursday when they meet at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney. Game time is 7 p.m.

Glace Bay Panthers declaw Sydney Academy Wildcats in high school hockey

GLACE BAY, N.S. — 

The Glace Bay Panthers won the battle of the cats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action Sunday night with a 3-2 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats.

Logan Snow led the way for the home team Panthers, notching two goals and an assist.

Snow put his team up 2-0 with a pair of power-play markers in the first.

Dante Basque responded for the Wildcats with a short-handed goal in the second then followed up with another on the man advantage in the third to knot things up at 2-2.

However, Snow would later pick up the helper on a short-handed goal by Jarrett Hicks to seal the deal.

Owen Coombes notched the win in nets for Glace Bay while Liam Collings shouldered the loss for Sydney Academy.

McCarron's hat trick leads Riverview past Memorial in high school hockey play Friday

COXHEATH, N.S. — 

Colby McCarron found the back of the net three times to lead the Riverview Ravens to a 5-2 victory over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre on Friday.

Liam Robertson and Liam Brann also netted goals for the Ravens (2-0-0-0).

Noah MacLeod and Sam Brown replied with goals for the Marauders (0-2-0-0).

Riverview's Devon Gallant made 23 saves. Memorial's Aidan Penny stopped 32 of 37 shots.

High school hockey league action continues on Sunday when the Glace Bay Panthers host the Sydney Academy Wildcats at 7 p.m. at the Miners Forum in Glace Bay.
