MEMBERTOU, N.S. – The Riverview Ravens got back in the win column on Tuesday night.
Riverview blanked the Sydney Academy Wildcats 4-0 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
Rory Mills led the way with two goals and an assist while Matthew Burke added a goal and an assist. Nick Lawrence also found the back of the net for the Ravens (2-3-0-0).
With the loss, the Wildcats’ record falls to 0-4-0-0 on the season.
Riverview’s Kayden Mollons stopped all 12 shots he faced for the shutout. Sydney Academy’s William Hussey turned aside 39 of 43 shots.

High School hockey continues on Friday when the Ravens host the Memorial Marauders at 8 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.

Owen Gracie scored twice, including the overtime winner, to lead the Marauders to a 4-3 victory over the Glace Bay Panthers at Miners Forum.
Jasper Allain and Bode MacDougall also found the back of the net for the Marauders, who earned 10 of a possible 12 points during the opening month of the season in October.
Jesse Cathcart, Kale MacDonald and Kyle Nearing replied with goals for the Panthers.
Memorial’s Levi Hull made 17 saves. Glace Bay’s Brandon MacNeil turned aside 28 of 31 shots.

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. – The Memorial Marauders moved into first place in the Cape Breton High School Hockey League on Thursday night.
The Sydney Mines-based school edged the Riverview Ravens 2-1 at Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.
Jackson Gerrow and Malcolm Hull found the back of the net for the Marauders.
Owen Buckley had the lone goal for the Ravens.
Memorial’s Brighton Hardy made 27 saves. Riverview’s Kayden Mollons stopped 18 of 20 shots.

MEMBERTOU, N.S. – A four-goal first period was all the Glace Bay Panthers needed to secure a victory over the Sydney Academy Wildcats on Tuesday.
The Panthers downed the Wildcats 6-2 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
Kyle Nearing had two goals and two assists while Kale MacDonald recorded a goal and three assists. Parker MacKenzie, Logan Smith and Morgan Neville also netted goals for the Panthers.
Charlie Joe Francis and Cole Murphy replied with goals for the Wildcats.
Glace Bay’s Brandon MacNeil made 18 saves. Sydney Academy’s Mikeda MacEwan allowed four goals on 11 shots while William Hussey stopped 16 of 18 shots.

COXHEATH, N.S. – The Glace Bay Panthers were the top team in the Cape Breton High School Hockey League all season and they continued the successful season on Tuesday night in Coxheath.
Glace Bay claimed the School Sport Nova Scotia Highland Region Division 1 championship, completing a two-game sweep of the Riverview Ravens with an 8-6 win at Cape Breton County Recreation Centre.
The Panthers win the best-of-three series 2-0.
Cohen McNeil scored twice and added an assist while Jesse Cathcart had two goals. Hudson Clarke, Ty Oliver, Garrett MacIntosh and Tyson Boland each scored single markers for the Panthers.
Owen Buckley had two goals and two assists while Matthew Burke had two goals and Gahan Rector and Rory Mills, who left the game in the second period with an injury, chipped in goals for the Ravens.
Glace Bay’s Brandon Cole made 21 saves. Riverview’s Kayden Mollons stopped 28 of 35 shots.
Entering the third period, Glace Bay had a 5-2 lead. They later made it 6-2 early in the third, but Riverview responded with two goals of their own to make it 6-4.
Oliver would make the score 7-4 just past the seven-minute mark of the final frame, before Burke scored twice to pull the Ravens to within one. MacIntosh would seal the deal for Glace Bay with an empty net goal with 56 seconds to play.
In the regular season, the Panthers finished in first place in the four-team Cape Breton league with a 14-2-1-0 record.
Glace Bay also won three of the four local high school tournaments including the Mae Kibyuk Memorial Green and Gold Tournament in North Sydney in November, the Panther Classic in Glace Bay in December, and the Blue and White Contractor Cup in Membertou last month.
Depending on the completion of the tournament, Glace Bay also holds a spot in the Red Cup Showcase semifinal. The semifinal and final games were postponed earlier this month due to a snowstorm and no date has been announced for when those games will be played at publication time.
Glace Bay will advance to the School Sport Nova Scotia provincial championship next week. The event will be hosted by Riverview at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre.
A schedule for the provincial championship was not made public at publication time.
