HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY: McNeil, Nearing have six-point performances, Glace Bay Panthers beat Sydney Academy Wildcats on Sunday

SYDNEY, N.S. – Cohen McNeil and Kyle Nearing combined for 12 points in the Glace Bay Panthers’ 11-3 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at Miners Forum on Sunday.
McNeil had four goals and two assists, while Nearing posted a goal and five assists. Morgan Neville had four goals and an assist while Kale MacDonald had five assists for the Panthers.
Ryan MacNeil and Logan Smith also fired home goals for the home side.
Brayden Tubrett and Evan Beaver each had a goal and an assist while Dominic McLeod added a single marker for the Wildcats.
Glace Bay’s Brandon MacNeil made 19 saves. Sydney Academy’s William Hussey stopped 17 of 25 shots. Mikeda MacEwan allowed three goals on 11 shots in his 14:17 of relief. MacEwan left the game with an injury in the third period.
All four Cape Breton High School Hockey League teams will return to the ice on Thursday for the start of the annual Mae Kibyuk Memorial Green and Gold Hockey Tournament, hosted by the Memorial Marauders at Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.
