HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY: Glace Bay Panthers use four-goal first period on way to victory over Sydney Academy on Tuesday

MEMBERTOU, N.S. – A four-goal first period was all the Glace Bay Panthers needed to secure a victory over the Sydney Academy Wildcats on Tuesday.
The Panthers downed the Wildcats 6-2 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
Kyle Nearing had two goals and two assists while Kale MacDonald recorded a goal and three assists. Parker MacKenzie, Logan Smith and Morgan Neville also netted goals for the Panthers.
Charlie Joe Francis and Cole Murphy replied with goals for the Wildcats.
Glace Bay’s Brandon MacNeil made 18 saves. Sydney Academy’s Mikeda MacEwan allowed four goals on 11 shots while William Hussey stopped 16 of 18 shots.
High school hockey continues on Thursday when the Memorial Marauders host the Riverview Ravens at 7:40 p.m. at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.
