HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY PLAYOFFS: Riverview Ravens advance to Highland Region Division 1 championship series
NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. – The Riverview Ravens will play in the School Sport Nova Scotia Highland Region Division 1 championship series.
Riverview defeated the Memorial Marauders 5-3 at Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney on Friday, winning the best-of-three semifinal series 2-0.
Gahan Rector had two goals and an assist while Aidan Stanwick, Matthew Burke and Lucas Phillippo also added goals for the Ravens.
Sam Gracie had a goal and an assist while Malcolm Hull and Jesse Ross also fired home goals for the Marauders.
Riverview’s Kayden Mollons made 19 saves. Memorial’s Jack MacPhee stopped 28 of 33 shots.
The Ravens will now wait for the winner of the other semifinal series between the Glace Bay Panthers and Sydney Academy Wildcats.
Glace Bay leads the series 1-0 with Game 2 set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at Miners Forum in Glace Bay.
