MAE KIBYUK MEMORIAL GREEN AND GOLD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES (All CAHA and NSSAF rules apply)

  1. Any coach or team official who, in the opinion of the tournament committee, displays poor sportsmanship or a bad example shall be suspended from the tournament.

  1. No protests shall be entertained.

  1. The coach shall be responsible for the conduct of his team in the dressing room and on the ice.

  1. The coach and the team will vacate the dressing room 30 minutes after the game ends.

  1. Any team that does not show for a game will lose by default by a score of 5-0.

  1. All games, including crossovers and championship will be three 15-minute stop periods. Teams will warm up for 10 minutes directly following the previous game on dirty ice, flood, game start, then flood after the second period. All games will end with a winner and there will be no tied points. In the event of a tie, in round robin games see rules 7 (ii) and (iii). In the event of a tie in crossover or championship games see rules 7(i), 7(ii), 7(iii), and 7(iv).

  1. In the event of a tie, in round robin play it will be broken by:

    (i) A five-minute stop-time sudden death with 5 skaters and a goaltender.

  (ii) A five-minute stop-time sudden death with 3 skaters and a goaltender.

(iii) A shootout with 5 shooters and a goaltender.

(iv) Sudden death shootout alternating shooters. No shooter may go twice until all skaters have shot once.

  1. In the event of a penalty during 3 on 3, the non-penalized team will add a     player (4-3) up to 5 skaters. A third penalty will result in a penalty shot.

  1. This is an eight-team, two-division tournament. Each team will play round-robin within their own division. The top 2 teams in each division will advance. The winner of A will play the 2nd in B. The winner of B will play the 2nd in A.

  2. Points will be awarded as follows:

3 points for a win in regulation time

2 points for a win in overtime or a shootout

1 point for a loss in overtime or a shootout.

  1. At the end of round-robin play, if two or more teams are tied in points for first or second place, the tie will be broken using the following system in the order given:

a. If 2 teams are tied, the head to head winner will be awarded the highest seed.If 3 teams are tied for first place, the 3 teams will be ranked according to goal ratio (goals for divided by goals against). Only games among the tied teams will be used. The best goal ratio will be awarded the highest seed. Second highest seeding will be awarded to the team of the remaining 2 with the next best goal ratio.

     b. If 3 teams are tied for second place, second place will be awarded to the team with the best goal ratio.

c. If in steps (a) and (b) a decision must be made between two teams with equal goal ratio, rule 10(a) will prevail. (Head to Head) If three teams are tied with identical ratios, then seeding will be determined by 10d, then 10e, then 10f.

d. The team with the least goals against from all games played.

e.The team with the fewest penalty minutes.

f. Flip a coin.

     12.  In the event one team is leading by five goals or more starting in the third period, time will revert to straight running time and only reverts back to stop time, if the margin is less than 5. If the margin returns to 5 at any point in the third period the clock will be straight time again and continue with this pattern should the score again be less than 5. The maximum goals in any round robin games will be either +5 or -5 goal differential for calculating goal ratio.

     13. One timeout will be allowed per game.

     14. Tournament decisions are final.
