Riverview Redmen edged in provincial final by Charles P. Allen
WESTVILLE, N.S. —
WESTVILLE, N.S. — The Riverview Redmen lost 3-2 to the CP Allen Cheetahs in the title game of the Division 1 boys provincial hockey championship in Westville.
For the Bedford-based Cheetahs, the win gives them three straight Nova Scotia championships. Riverview made it to the final game after defeating archrival Glace Bay Panthers 4-2 in one of two Saturday evening semifinals. CP Allen beat Auburn Eagles 2-0 in the other match.
Among the tournament’s highlights was Riverview’s double-overtime victory over Northumberland during round robin play. During the preliminary round, Glace Bay defeated eventual champion CP Allen 2-1.
